In late December in the northern hemisphere, the earth has its shortest
day and longest night. This annual seasonal event marks the shift from
winter to spring, from darkness to light. Winter is my least favorite season
in the northeast - I don't like the ice and cold. Snow is OK though. This is
the time I like to visit my land on
El Dorado Estates
in northern Baja, Mexico or go to New Orleans for Mardi Gras.
The Winter Solstice for 2004 will occur at 7:41 AM EST on December 21st.
Here are some winter celebrations to explore.
